LUBBOCK The Odessa College golf team picked up its first tournament victory of the season Tuesday, using a strong final round to edge Oklahoma City University in the Chaps Fall Invitational at The Rawls Course.

The Wranglers finished at 880 (293-298-289), six shots better than the Stars, with Our Lady of the Lake (893) finishing third.

Individually, Odessa College’s Jamie Warman holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole to earn medalist honors with a total of 1-under-par 215, his second consecutive tournament in the top spot.

Darryn Els of Wayland Baptist (216) and Nick Chacon of Our Lake of the Lake (216) tied for second.

Permian graduate Micah Rodgers, in his first outing on the Wranglers’ top squad, finished ninth at 4-over-par 220 and was the only other Odessa College player in the top 10.

The Wranglers return to action on Saturday and Sunday at the Andrews College/AM Invitational at Andrews County Golf Course.
