Roughnecks join new league

The West Texas Roughnecks are heading into the fourth league of their existence next season.

The Lone Star Football League announced Wednesday that the Roughnecks will be a charter member when it begins play in 2012.

Both the Roughnecks and Amarillo Venom were announced as new LSFL members after playing previously in the Indoor Football League.

The Roughnecks played in the Intense Football League for four seasons, the National Indoor Football League for one season and the Indoor Football League for three seasons.

The Lone Star Football League’s membership includes the Roughnecks; Venom; Abilene; Corpus Christi; Frisco; Houston; Laredo; Rio Grande Valley (Hidalgo); and San Angelo.
