Premier Development League Soccer: Sockers fall to Grandes
EDINBURG The West Texas United Sockers dropped their fourth consecutive Premier Development League soccer game Saturday night, falling 3-0 to RGV Grandes FC.
Misael Lopez, Mario Perez and Juan Nava scored one goal each for RGV (2-7), which lost 2-1 to the Sockers earlier this season.
West Texas United (3-6, 9 points) fell into fifth place in the six-team Mid South Division heading into an exhibition at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against FC Dallas at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland. FC Dallas was Major League Soccer’s runner-up last season and is second this season in the MLS West Division.
Against the Grandes, the Sockers created ample opportunities and had eight corner kicks but couldn’t score. The Sockers also fell 4-1 on the road trip Thursday at Laredo, getting a goal from Ben Everson in that setback.
