WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Lady Wranglers fall in Hobbs
HOBBS, N.M. Angenay Williams recorded a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) for the Odessa College women’s basketball team, but it wasn’t enough as New Mexico Junior College won 71-63 Thursday.
The Lady Wranglers (17-8 overall, 6-3 Western Junior Collegiate Athletic Conference) held a 27-23 halftime lead but could not hold off a strong second-half surge by the Lady Thunderbirds.
New Mexico Junior College (23-3, 7-1) outscored the Lady Wranglers 48-38 in the second half. The Lady Thunderbirds were led by sophomore Te’onna Campbell, who scored 18 points and recorded nine rebounds. Teammates Stacie Tellez and Kya DeGarmo chipped in 15 and 14 points, respectively.
J’Tierra Brown led the Lady Wranglers with 16 points, while Jamie Drummer added 15 points.
Odessa College will play host to Howard College Monday at the OC Sports Center. Tipoff is slated for 5:45 p.m.
