Pro baseball: Herrera keeps flying high with Bats
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Permian graduate Danny Ray Herrera appears to be undaunted by Triple-A batters since joining the Louisville Bats of the International League last month.
Herrera has not allowed a run - earned or unearned - in his first 11 1-3 innings covering seven appearances with the Cincinnati Reds affiliate.
Herrera has limited hitters to a .171 batting average, including .158 against left-handed batters. He has given up seven hits, and he has 10 strikeouts and no walks.
The left-handed reliever's first two appearances with Louisville were in extra-inning games. He allowed two hits and struck out four in 2 1-3 innings in the Bats' 4-3 loss in 13 innings to Columbus on April 26, and he allowed one hit and struck out two in two innings in their 5-2 loss in 17 innings to the Clippers on April 28.
Herrera went 3-0 with a 2.55 ERA in 10 games with the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League before he was promoted.
