Major League Baseball: Herrera pitches perfect inning

CINCINNATI Permian graduate Danny Ray Herrera pitched a perfect inning Thursday.

Herrera threw the eighth inning with the Reds trailing by a run, striking out one in the process.

The Reds rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie the game in the eighth and win it in the ninth on a Joey Votto single.

Francisco Cordero earned the victory in relief.

With the perfect inning, Herrera lowered his ERA to 1.99 on the season.
