Golf: West Texas Boys Classic has good field

The West Texas Boys Golf Classic is becoming a fixture on the high school scene and returns to the Permian Basin today at Ratliff Ranch Golf Links and Saturday at Odessa Country Club’s Links Course.

Permian and Odessa High co-host the event and will be joined by Midland High, Midland Lee, Amarillo High, San Angelo Central, Lubbock High, Lubbock Monterey and Lubbock Coronado. Amarillo Tascosa is the only District 2-5A program not attending.

Also coming are strong programs from the west — El Paso Hanks, El Paso Coronado, El Paso Cathedral and El Paso Franklin — along with Beaumont Kelly and Abilene Cooper.
