JUNIOR HOCKEY: Faust out, Taylor gone
The Odessa Jackalopes announced Monday that Willie Faust will miss at least the next four weeks after suffering a broken finger Saturday’s 3-2 victory at New Mexico.
Faust, tied for the team scoring lead with Jalen Krogman, will have surgery to insert pins in the break, suffered when he was hit by a puck.
Faust’s absence puts pressure on Krogman, Alex Ostrowski, Tyler Poulsen and recent additions Josh Obregon, Lawrence Cornellier and Tyler Cayemberg to more consistently find the back of the net.
Other team news involved former captain Sheldon Taylor, who was released Jan. 17 and then picked up by Michigan Warriors on Friday. Taylor, who played at Owatonna (Minn.) last season, had 14 points (10 goals, four assists) in 28 games with Odessa and is scoreless in two games with the Warriors.
