>> Falcons get landmark win: In San Antonio, the UTPB men’s basketball team led from the start Thursday to post an 89-81 Heartland Conference victory over the University of the Incarnate Word.

Robert Harris scored a game-high 28 points to lead four Falcons (11-15) in double figures in their first-ever victory over the Cardinals (16-10).

Charles Harper added 23 points, Art Garcia 14 and Justin Bailey 12 in the victory, in which UTPB was 13 of 28 from three-point range. Harper opened the game for the Falcons with consecutive three-point jumpers for a 6-2 lead that never was relinquished.

Nia Torru had 26 points to lead five Lady Cardinals (16-10 overall, 10-3 in conference) in double figures.

The Lady Falcons (2-25, 2-9) were led by Crystal Johnson’s game-high 41 points, including 10-for-18 from three-point range. She was the only UTPB player in double figures.
