COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Lady Falcons record first win in doubleheader split
DURANT, Okla. The UTPB softball team split a doubleheader with Southeastern Oklahoma and earned its first victory of the season on Thursday.
The Falcons (1-8) won the first game of the doubleheader 4-2 and lost 8-0 in the second contest, which was stopped after five innings by the eight-run mercy rule.
Desiree Valero earned the win in Game 1 after striking out three and giving up two earned runs in seven innings. Catcher Anna Hollingsworth went 3-for-6 and drove in a run in the doubleheader.
Southeastern Oklahoma (6-5) was led offensively by Page Priest, who went 4-for-6 and recorded two RBIs in the doubleheader.
The Lady Falcons will play games against Washburn (noon) and Cameron (2 p.m.) today in Durant, Okla.
