NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: South Division defeats Midwest Division in League's Top Prospect Tournament
TROY, MICH. Odessa Jackalopes forward Josh Obregon recorded one assist as the South Division defeated the Midwest Division 5-0 Tuesday night on the second night of the North American Hockey League’s Top Prospect Tournament.
Obregon, who had a goal in Monday’s 7-4 loss to the Central Division, is joined at the tournament by Jackalopes teammates Jalen Krogman and Mikko Virtanen, who also scored in Monday’s loss.
The tournament concludes at 9 a.m. today when the South takes on the West Division. The three-day event gives college scouts and recruiters a chance to see players who have yet to be offered scholarships for next season.
The Jackalopes return to the ice at 7:05 p.m. Friday when they host the Corpus Christi IceRays at Ector County Coliseum in the first of four consecutive games between the teams.
Corpus Christi currently leads Odessa by nine points (48-39) in the race for the South Division’s final playoff berth.
