College volleyball: UTPB / Midland College briefs
Comments 0 | Recommend 0>> UTPB goes 2-2 in Kansas: In Topeka, Kan., the UTPB volleyball team lost to No. 11 Emporia State, Kan. 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 at the Washburn Tournament on Saturday.
UTPB rebounded to beat Missouri Western 23-25, 25-14, 25-16, 20-25, 15-6 and finish the tournament 2-2.
Amithy Henry had eight kills for UTPBâagainst Emporia State, but the Lady Falcons made 19 attack errors.
Henry had 17 kills against Missouri Western, while teammate Krystal Polk had 15 kills and five blocks.
UTPBâlost to No. 15 Truman State 25-14, 25-11, 25-20 and beat Fort Hays State 22-25, 22-25, 32-30, 25-21, 15-13 on Friday night.
UTPB (13-10) will play Incarnate Word in a Heartland Conference match at 7 p.m. Friday in San Antonio.

>> Beck leads Midland College past Lee: In Laredo, Odessa High graduate Kristen Beck had 15 kills and 13 digs to help the Midland College volleyball team beat No. 14-ranked Lee College 14-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19, 25-11 on Saturday.
Beck had 12 kills and 1.5 blocks in Midland College's 25-17, 11-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-10 loss to No. 18 Laredo.
Odessa's Lindsey Stahl, a Midland High graduate, had 14 kills and 18 digs for Midland College against Laredo.
Beck and Stahl signed with different colleges before opting to play for Midland College (25-5).
Midland College will play at Clarendon in a Western Junior College Athletic Conference match on Wednesday.
