Junior College Basketball: Lady Wranglers lose

CLARENDON The Odessa College Lady Wranglers continued making strides Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Clarendon College Lady Bulldogs.

Clarendon’s Areyal LeDeatte scored 23 points as the Lady Bulldogs held on for an 89-80 victory in Western Junior College Athletic Conference women’s basketball action.

Clarendon College (10-9 overall, 1-4 conference) led 35-24 at halftime and pushed the margin to 20 in the second half before the Lady Wranglers (4-15, 0-4) closed to within six points with two minutes to go.

Priscilla Mbiandja had 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead OC, while Ashley Ferrell and Whitney Goard each scored 15 points. Jennifer Colli added 10 points.

Nicole Vigil added 14 points for Clarendon with Amanda Beauchamp scoring 13 and Taja Turner 11.

The Lady Wranglers return to action at 5:30 p.m. Monday when they host No. 14 Midland College at the OC Sports Center.
