WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Lady Wranglers shoot for the top

Even after losing 59-53 at home to South Plains College on Monday, the Odessa College women’s basketball team could move into a tie for first place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with a win tonight at New Mexico Junior College, scheduled for a 6:45 p.m. start.

The Lady Thunderbirds (22-3 overall, 6-1 WJCAC) come into the contest with a half game lead in the standings over Midland College and Odessa College. New Mexico Junior College, which is ranked No. 11 in the nation, lost 77-67 at Midland College on Monday.

Today’s contest offers the Lady Wranglers a chance at revenge as they lost 68-52 when the teams played Jan. 23 in Odessa. Chanell Lockhart led Odessa College with 13 points in the first meeting.
