College basketball: Lady Wranglers come through in the clutch

The Odessa College women’s basketball team broke past Jacksonville College in the second half to get a 63-57 win in the first game of the Lady Chap Tip-Off Classic Thursday.

Shon Redmond led the Lady Wranglers (2-0) with 14 points, Tammie Thornton picked up 11 and Chantelle Brockett added 10 to lead an Odessa College team that trailed 26-25 at halftime.

Judith Tabala led Odessa College with 11 rebounds.

In other Lady Chap Tip-Off Classic action, Howard College beat Eastern Arizona College 72-55 and Midland College rolled over Yavapai College 75-38.

Odessa College plays Yavapai at 5 p.m. today and Eastern Arizona at 3 p.m. Saturday.
