The Wranglers (26-4, 13-3) had a chance to tie the game but missed a jump shot at the buzzer. Odessa College missed four of six free throws in the extra period.
Because of the loss, OC had to settle for a regular-season tie of the WJCAC title with Midland College (27-3, 13-3), which beat Frank Phillips 92-78.
The Wranglers head into the Region V Tournament Thursday as the No. 1 seed from the South and will face the fourth-place team from the North at 7 p.m. at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton.
>> A different finish: The Odessa College women’s basketball team, the 2007 NJCAA national champion, concluded the defense of its title with a thud Thursday in Snyder, dropping an 88-76 decision to Western Texas College in the season finale for the Lady Wranglers.
The Lady Wranglers finished the season 6-22 overall and 2-12 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.
Western Texas (16-14, 8-6), which led by as much as 22 points in the second half, advances to play in the Region V Tournament.
