NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: Jacks dealt blowout loss
AMARILLO Joe Kozlak scored a hat trick to lead the Amarillo Bulls to a 7-2 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes in a North American Hockey League game Sunday. The Jackalopes, who were outshot 54-19, dropped to 0-8-0 against the Bulls this season.
Kozlak scored twice in the first period, but a goal by Odessa’s Tyler Poulsen at 16:43 of the opening period made it 2-1. It didn’t stay that way for very long. Kozlak scored 20 seconds into the second period. It was his second power-play goal of the game. Amarillo (33-3-7) was 2-for-4 with the man advantage while Odessa (15-21-5) finished 0-for-6.
Amarillo scored four unanswered goals after Poulsen scored to put the game out of reach.
Justin Davis started in goal for Odessa and took the loss. He stopped 36-of-40 shots before being ejected 21 seconds into the third period following a fight with Amarillo goalie Mike Taffe.
