COLLEGE BASEBALL: UTPB Falcons begin season

The UTPB baseball team will open its 2012 season, and start Heartland Conference play, with a doubleheader against Texas A&M International beginning at noon today in Laredo.
Falcons coach Brian Reinke said earlier this week that senior right-hander Kyle Cormier would be the starting pitcher in their first game. Cormier went 3-1 last season with a 5.75 ERA and 36 innings pitched, making 14 appearances and eight starts.
The teams will conclude the season-opening series at noon Saturday.
