MEMPHIS, TENN. Andrews native Chad Campbell posted scores of 70 and 69 Tuesday at the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying tournament at Germantown Country Club, finishing in a tie for 23rd place at 3-under par.

Only the top nine finishers qualified for next week’s U.S. Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. Tommy Biershenk of Inman, S.C., won the sectional qualifier with a two-round score of 9-under 133.

The 38-year-old Campbell, who will miss the U.S. Open for the second time in three years, has two top-25 finishes in 15 starts on the PGA Tour this year. He tied for fifth at last year’s British Open and lost in playoffs at the 2009 Masters and 2003 PGA Championship.
