Comments 0 | Recommend 0>> Trinidad helps Hooks drop 'Hounds: In Corpus Christi, Polin Trinidad threw six innings to help the Corpus Christi Hooks beat the Midland RockHounds 4-1 in a Texas League baseball game on Friday night.
Trinidad (1-1) gave up four hits and struck out four.
Rob Cosby's RBI single in the third inning gave Corpus Christi a 1-0 lead, and Ole Sheldon hit a solo home run in the fifth to the Hooks ahead 2-0.
Midland answered in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Jesus Guzman.
Guzman and Brian Snyder each had two hits for Midland, but they were the only Rockhounds to get a hit.
Corpus Christi scored two runs in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Chris Johnson and another RBI single by Cosby.
Kyle Middleton pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save for Corpus Christi.
Midland starter Scott Moore (1-1) gave up one run and four hits in three innings.

>> Bradshaw sits fifth: In Joliet, Ill., Odessa's Alan Bradshaw sits fifth on the Top Fuel ladder after Friday's first two rounds of qualifying for the NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
Bradshaw covered the quarter-mile in 4.571 seconds at 391.14 miles per hour in his first qualifying pass, the quickest of the first round.
Tony Schumacher took over the top spot in the second session with a pass of 4.513 seconds at 331.69 mph.
The final two qualifying passes will be held today, and eliminations are set for Sunday.
