College volleyball: Lady Falcons travel to San Angelo

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Smack-dab in the middle of a nasty pre-season tournament schedule, the UTPB volleyball team has another test on the road at 7 tonight against Angelo State University in San Angelo.

Fresh off of the Lady Falcons’ first victory of the season — UTPB beat Southwestern Oklahoma 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 15-6 at the Texas Woman’s Tournament on Friday — UTPB has to take on the talented Rambelles (6-1), whose only loss this season is to No. 17 Pittsburg State.

The Lady Falcons (1-8) dropped three other matches in Denton last weekend, although sophomore outside hitter Alex Genung was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing with 28 kills, 30 digs and five blocks during the weekend.

UTPB fell to Texas Woman’s 22-25, 19-25, 25-16, 25-14, 15-10, to East Central Oklahoma 25-15, 25-19, and 25-20, and to Texas A&M-Kingsville 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 25-23.

After a rough opening weekend at the BritKare Lady Buffs Classic, UTPB only had a team hitting percentage of .059, but the Lady Falcons posted hitting percentages over .100 in all four matchups in Denton.
