GFWC leads women’s health program

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Alpine recently conducted a women’s health luncheon program on “Osteoporosis/Arthritis” with Dr. B.K. Khandelwal, rheumatologist, of Midland, as guest speaker.

The GFWC Women’s Health program offers education information about the medical problems affecting women and encourage women to adopt proven methods for optimizing their own physical health and quality of life; and also for the benefit of Club Medical Scholarship.

In attendance were local medical staffs represented by Dr. Darrell Parsons and Dr. Adrian Billings and nurse practitioner Nola Damon, Sul Ross State University International Students represented by Ying Jing Xing from China, Ya Da Nar from Burma, Sawit Sriwarom from Thailand, Sajag Bhattarai and Diwash Pokharel both from Nepal.

Corporate sponsors were Procter and Gamble represented by Scott Smith; Abbott Immunology represented by Amy Crownover and Sanofi-Aventis represented by Teresa Dotson, Rachel Martinez from Arthritis Foundation of Midland.

“La Entrada” luncheon program is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at SRSU Library Conference Room, Alpine.

Guest speaker will be Carol Lewis, a longtime resident and former school teacher of Alpine and supporter of Foster Rich’s Alternate Route.

Films and maps will be shown on the proposed routes. A rice and bean lunch will be served and will benefit the Alpine Firefighters.
