ODC to appoint board
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Odessa Development Corp. has the appointment of a workforce recruitment task force on its agenda for Thursday's meeting.
The task force was part of the recommendations of a recently completed study by Leslie Toombs, a University of Texas of the Permian Basin management professor. Among her other recommendations were streamlining job recruitment websites.
The ODC board will also hear several reports, including one from Gary Vest, economic development director for the Odessa Chamber of Commerce. Vest is expected to address wind farms in the area.
While wind turbines are turning at Duke Energy's Notrees wind farm, located mostly in Winkler County, Vest's activity report said the American Shoreline/ 2W wind farm has been placed on the economic development department's "inactive" list due to a lack of investors.
The board will also get an update on the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance, the organization advocating the La Entrada Al Pacifico trade corridor. According to the organization's quarterly report, it has made progress both in road and rail projects.
