Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Royce Williams will hit town at 2 p.m. Friday for the Commemorative Air Force's Seminar Series, and Permian Basin Welcome Home Committee members plan to give him a rousing welcome.
Williams is a World War II and Korean War veteran, serving from 1943 to 1954. He was a Naval Aviator Ace and once shot down three MIGs in one day.
Ralph Gillette, a member of both the CAF and the PBWHC, will lead the contingent welcoming Williams at the airport.
"It's never too late to say ‘thank you' for a job well done," PBWHC coordinator Vickie Gomez said.
