Texas Retired Teachers Association's (TRTA) Walks-A-Million Program
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Members of the Odessa/Ector County Retired School Personnel Association walked 14,594,999 steps, the equivalent of 7,297 miles in 2007 as they participated in the Texas Retired Teachers Association's (TRTA) Walks-A-Million Program. The purpose of the TRTA Walks-A-Million Program is to encourage the organization's 64,000 members in the 257 local units throughout Texas to walk on a daily basis in order to maintain good health and at the same time keep health insurance costs down. Local member Arlyne Pagan walked the most steps in 2007, 2,835,000. She received a certificate of recognition from the TRTA at the April state convention. The Walks-A-Million Program at the 0/ECRSPA is coordinated by Libby McCrone and Bonnie Stubbs, health care committee chairmen. Carol Horton, president of the local TRTA Unit, thanked the participants. Pictured are, from left to right: McCrone, Pagan and Horton.
