Tree recycling
Comments 0 | Recommend 0When you start taking down the Christmas tree this weekend, Keep Odessa Beautiful and the Girl Scouts want you to remember recycling.
The Odessa Recycle Time Machine will process this year's used Christmas trees through New Year's Day, and the Permian Basin Girl Scouts chapter is gearing up to help.
To get your tree picked up, call 550-2688 and leave a message at extension 319 for the Girl Scouts with your address and time you'd like to have the tree picked up. They'll call you back to confirm.
The program costs $10, which helps the girls with summer camp expenses and other operating costs.
Keep Odessa Beautiful Executive Director Patti Reakes-Collins said homeowners could be fined if they leave Christmas trees in city Dumpsters. After the Time Machine crew processes the trees, free mulch will be available for whoever wants it.
