A 46-year-old Odessa man died in a wreck Tuesday night as he was riding in an oilfield truck on FM 1788 in Midland County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The wreck occurred at 9:09 p.m. about a half mile north of Highway 191. Passenger Jon Christopher King, who worked as a mobile home mover, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 p.m., DPS reported.
The 2006 Freightliner King was riding in had been traveling southbound in wet conditions when the driver lost control of the truck, which then left the roadway, hit a fence and rolled, DPS reported. King wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
The truck was registered to Stellar Oilfield Rentals in Angleton, according to Department of Motor Vehicle records.
