New traffic light to be installed in West Odessa
A new traffic light will be installed next week at the intersection of University Boulevard and Tripp Avenue. After the light pole was destroyed in an accident July 7 the intersection became a four-way stop, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release.
The signal pole is scheduled for installation Monday, and should not impact traffic, the press release stated.
However, when the mast arm that goes over the lanes of traffic is installed around 10 a.m. Tuesday, traffic patterns will change, the release stated.
Traffic will briefly be stopped and there will be some lane closures, the release stated.
Since the destroyed light pole was a non-standard size and a custom pole had to be created, there was a delay in replacing the light, the release stated.
Because of the design of the pole’s base, and the fact that the foundation could not be changed out, a standard sized pole could not be used, the release stated.
