Fishing for FUNds

January 5, 2009 - 1:23 PM

The sixth annual "Fish and Chips for FUNds" hopes to raise $20,000 with a catfish buffet to benefit the Globe of the Great Southwest Theater. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Ector County Coliseum, Barn A,

"A lot of people want to encourage our nonprofit theater and want it to prosper, but they may not be avid theatergoers," Artistic Director Anthony Ridley said. "I constantly see people not usually in theater seats come to ‘Fish and Chips', so this is their way of giving."

The catfish buffet begins at 6:30 p.m. and will also feature its famous bread pudding and bourbon sauce. At 8:30 p.m., the buffet closes, and the dance featuring The Pictures band from Austin will begin.

Tickets for the dance and dinner cost $35, tickets for just the dance cost $10 and sponsorship tables go for $300, $500 and $1,000.
