Texas Forest Service and other fire crews were still busy Friday putting out fires from around Texas.
Jeanne Eastham, Texas Forest Service fire information officer, said Texas Forest Service crews were able to put out one fire though on Friday in Howard County. The "Cauble Road Fire" burned 200 acres before it was contained.
A fire in Hidalgo County that burned 25,600 acres is halfway contained, she reported. The fire destroyed four homes, and 500 people were evacuated.
In Hemphill County, a fire called the "Gene Howe Refuge Fire" has burned 5,000 acres and is 80 percent contained. The Texas Parks & Wildlife now managing the fire.
Brooks County also encountered a blaze that burned 3,038 acres. The fire is 75 percent contained.
