Teddy Bear Patrol

The 20th annual Teddy Bear Patrol Pancake Breakfast took place Feb. 20 at the American Legion. They had the largest crowd ever, more than 900 people in attendance. The entertainment included Odessa High School Color Guard, Permian Satin Strings, Austin Choir, Burnet Choir and University of Texas of the Permian Basin band. Police and fire vehicles were on site for tours as well as the Blood Mobile. Funds raised go to buy special stuffed teddy bears that are placed in the City of Odessa Police, Fire Department, UTPB Police, CVP and medical examiner’s vehicles and are passed out to children in traumatic situations. The Odessa Police SWAT team members are: Robert Doporto, Scottie Smith (bomb unit), City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Royce Bodiford, Gracie Olivas (Odessa Teddy Bear Patrol board president), Luis Navarette, Jesse Garcia and Wayne Phillips.
