Tax preparation

The Ector County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is looking for volunteers to assist in the preparation of 2008 income tax returns. Training is provided by the Internal Revenue Service and volunteers can be choose to be certified in Basic, Intermediate or Advanced preparation. Basic certification dates and times are: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 17; 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 19; and 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 20.

Saturday tax preparation schedule for 2008 returns are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14.

From Feb. 3 through April 14, tax preparation times will be 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Service is by appointment only and everyone must bring an original ID, a Social Security card and W-2s and 1099s. Call 332-1387 to set up an appointment. All training will be held at Catholic Charities, 606 W. 10th St.
