Midland drug charges
MIDLAND A Goddard Junior High student was treated at a local hospital and remained for observation purposes Thursday after the student ingested prescription medication received from a fellow student, school official said.
The junior high student went to the school nurse Wednesday after “exhibiting signs of disorientation,” according to a news release from Midland Independent School District.
The release states the student remained in the hospital as of 5 p.m. Thursday and was expected to be released soon.
Two other students also said they’d been involved, and their parents took those students to a hospital for precautionary reasons.
Both of those students were treated and released as of Thursday. The student who provided the prescription drugs was charged.
No students’ ages, sexes or any other identifying information was given. Efforts to reach MISD officials late Thursday were not successful.
“This serious situation provides the opportunity for parents to remind their students of the dangers in taking any drug from a friend or another student — that includes Tylenol, Advil or aspirin,” Ed Zachary, assistant superintendent of administration and operations, said in a news release.
