    Brewster County motorcycle crash

A 66-year-old woman was killed and a 67-year-old man was injured in a motorcycle crash late Thursday near Alpine, Department of Public Safety communications operator Susan Passmore said.

Jan Stone, a income tax officer from Lubbock, was taken to Big Bend Regional Medical Center after a 6:08 p.m. crash 14 miles east of Alpine on Highway 90, where she later died. Thomas Stone, also a tax officer from Lubbock, was at Big Bend Regional Medical Center. When called for a condition, the woman who answered the phone said "we don't give out that information" and hung up.

According to a report Passmore read from DPS trooper Joseph Daniel Valenzuela, Thomas Stone was driving a 1993 Honda motorcycle west on Highway 90 when for unknown reasons, the front tire started losing air. The motorcycle wobbled and then fell on its right side, causing both Thomas and Jan Stone to fall off.

The report said Thomas suffered scrapes to his face, arms and legs. Neither he nor Jan were wearing helmets, the report said.

Jan Stone's body was taken to the Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
