Burglary charge
Odessa police have charged a 44-year-old transient man in connection with a June 25 burglary in the 900 block of East 12th Street.
Darrin Steven Walker, who was already in jail on other charges when the burglary charge was filed, was being held without bond on a burglary parole violation Friday at the Ector County Detention Center. Odessa police arrested Walker June 29 in connection with the unrelated parole violation, Cpl. Sherrie Carruth said.
On June 25, an Odessa man reported someone came into his home through his kitchen window the night before while he was asleep and took $65 from his billfold.
Odessa police Crime Scene Technician Jennifer Myers took fingerprints from the kitchen window and found their placement on the window to be consistent with pushing it open, the arrest affidavit said.
Myers entered the prints taken from the window into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System, which found a copy of an inked fingerprint card for Darrin Steven Walker, the affidavit said. Myers confirmed the match, and the burglarized man said he didn’t know Walker or why he’d be there.
The warrant was signed Tuesday and given to the sheriff’s office Wednesday. Walker was arrested on the charge Thursday at the Ector County Detention Center.
