Weekend attacks send two to hospital

Two aggravated robberies and an attempted aggravated robbery were reported within hours of each other in Odessa, sending two to the hospital.

At around 2:10 a.m. Monday, officers went to El Vaquero Night Club, 600 N. Grandview Ave., where they found an assaulted man from Pasadena, Texas, Cpl. Sherrie Carruth said.

The man said two Hispanic men, someone he knew and someone he didn’t, used pool sticks to assault him, causing multiple lacerations to his head, a police report stated.

He was transported privately to Medical Center Hospital and was no longer listed as a patient Tuesday.

One man is described as being between 40- and 45-years-old, five-feet, seven-inches tall, weighing around 210 pounds with brown hair. The other man is described as around 18-years-old, five-feet, four-inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds with brown hair.

A few hours before that, between 11:35 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to Medical Center Hospital where a man said he’d been stabbed, Carruth said.

He said he was walking near Eighth Street and Golder Avenue when he saw three people, including one he knew.

The man said he and the person he recognized began to fight because he believed the man was trying to take his wallet. The victim was stabbed in his side, causing a one-inch gash in his torso, and was transported privately to Medical Center Hospital, Carruth said. However, she said police hadn’t determined how the incident terminated or how the stabbed man was able to get away.

He was no longer listed as a patient Tuesday.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late 40s, five-feet, three-inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds.
