Murder in Fort Stockton

FORT STOCKTON A "person of interest" was being sought by police officials in Fort Stockton and the Midland area after one resident was shot dead in his home.
Fort Stockton Police Department Criminal Investigator Lisa Tarango said they are looking for a person of interest and want to ask him about the Friday morning shooting of Fort Stockton resident Drew Aaron Slater.
According to information Odessa Police Sgt. Berzoza received from Pecos County officials, the person of interest was spotted near Midland in a dark brown Ford F-150, and is considered armed and dangerous.
Back in Fort Stockton, police chief Juan Castro said they are still investigating Slater's murder. The 25-year-old was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 11:40 a.m. Friday at his home in 1505 W. Hornbeck Blvd.
Slater's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office in Lubbock, Castro said, and an autopsy will be performed Monday. Currently, they do not know the caliber of the rounds found in Slater's body, nor do they know what led to the shooting.
This was the first murder within Fort Stockton's city limits in more than 10 years.
"It's been a while," Castro said.
Police are also looking for Slater's vehicle, which was missing from the scene when they found him. They did not immediately say Saturday whether the F-250 Myers was driving belonged to Slater.
Slater had no criminal record. Castro said nothing was immediately found to suggest that Slater would have had any enemies that wanted him dead.
