Woman charged with ‘intoxication manslaughter'

Kathy Robinson said her son was making something out of himself when he died.

"He just got moved to management for M-I SWACO," Robinson said. "He was doing good in life."

Demonica Dejuane "DQ" Robinson, 34, died late Friday night in a two-vehicle collision in northeast Odessa.

Kathy Robinson said her son's death didn't really hit her until she drove by the Hemmingway House Apartments, the scene of the accident.

"I saw the red truck and the damage, and then I started to feel everything," she said.

Casey Dyane Pierson, 25, was charged with "intoxication manslaughter" in connection with the accident and released Saturday from the Ector County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.

According to police reports, Pierson was driving a red 2006 Chevrolet pickup when she collided with Demonica Robinson, who was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle.

That motorcycle was something he loved, Kathy Robinson said. She said she was worried every time he got on his motorcycle, but she's glad he died doing something he loved.

"I was hesitant when he got the bike, but I knew that's what he loved," she said.

Francine Miller-Brown said her cousin was a sports fan and a fan of "anything with wheels."

"I kept on taking my Cadillac to the shop, and they never fixed it," Miller Brown said. "He told me what was wrong, and the next time I took it to the shop, they fixed it."

Jamie Miller, Robinson's cousin, said "nobody could handle a bike like DQ."

Miller said Robinson raced at Desert Thunder Raceway and was part of the 1993 Permian High track team.

Family, neighbors and friends were gathered Saturday afternoon at the Robinson house, grieving and remembering DQ.

"He was my firstborn and only son," Kathy Robinson said. "I'm going to miss him."
