Rives to run for Texas State Senate

Former Ector County Independent School District board member Randy Rives has announced his bid for the Texas State Senate.

Rives announced his intentions to run Tuesday at the Amarillo Public Library. He will seek the Republican nomination for District 31, facing off against incumbent Kel Seliger.

Candidates are allowed to file to have their names on the primary ballot starting Nov. 28 and running thorough Dec. 15. The primary election will be held March 6.
