The Boy Scouts of America has scheduled the Third Annual American Flag Retirement Ceremony at 4 p.m. Saturday behind the Mesa Building on the University of Texas of the Permian Basin campus.

Odessa City Mayor Larry Melton and several veterans organizations have been invited to attend the retirement ceremony sponsored by the Comanche Trail District of the Boy Scouts of America.

The ceremony is open to the public. If anyone needs to bring a torn or tattered American flag to the event, the Scouts will dispose of the flags.
