Presidio man killed in one-car accident

WARD COUNTY A 22-year-old Presidio man died in a one-car accident at 6 p.m. Friday on FM 2355 about 15 miles west of Barstow, according to a report from the Pecos Department of Public Safety.

Jose Alberto Pineda was driving a 2004 Tahoe west on FM 2355 when he overcorrected and skidded across the other lanes leaving the roadway, the report stated.

Pineda was ejected from the car which caught fire, according to the report.

He was declared dead at the scene and was the only person in the car, the report stated.

The report did not state whether any citations were given and it was unknown whether Pineda was wearing a seat belt.
