It's about recognizing God - in public.
Former Chief Justice Roy Moore will speak Thursday in Midland County on the topic "It's time for America to reclaim the right to publicly acknowledge God."
Moore was removed from office by Alabama's judicial ethics panel in 2003 for "defying a federal judge's order to move a Ten Commandments monument from the state Supreme Court building."
The ethics panel said then that Moore put himself above the law by "willfully and publicly flouting the order" to remove the 2.6-ton monument from the state judicial building's rotunda.
Moore is set to speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mid-Cities Community Church, on Highway 191 between Odessa and Midland. The event is free.
It's sponsored by the West Texas Men of Integrity. For information, call 550-5282.
