Public comments welcome on proposed tax rate
Public comments on the 2011 ad valorem tax rate will be accepted by the Ector County Hospital District Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the auditorium at Medical Center Hospital.
An ad valorem tax rate of $0.052081 per $100 valuation was proposed for ECHD, as opposed to the 2010 tax rate of $0.055201 per $100 valuation.
“It’s a lower tax rate than last year,” board president David Dunn said.
The board will also appoint a committee to conduct interviews for the new district 5 board member, replacing Ceretha Cartwright who moved to San Diego.
Already they have had one applicant and several other people who picked up applications, Dunn said.
The committee will have around eight people and will be comprised of a few board members and people from administration and the medical staff, Dunn said.
Anyone interested in the position needs to be a citizen of district 5 and must come to MCH to pick up an application, Dunn said.
Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30 and a decision may be made at the first board meeting in November, Dunn said.
In other action the board will:
- Consider changing the date of the special meeting to adopt the 2012 operating and capital budget and the 2011 ad valorem tax rate from Sept. 29 to Sept. 27.
