Police trying to determine suspects in drive-by shooting
A reported drive-by shooting Tuesday caused a lot of excitement in a neighborhood near Bonham Junior High, but no one was hurt.
At around 8:19 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 2300 block of Nabors Lane.
Sgt. Joe Ramirez said a 17-year-old male told police he was shot at while he was standing behind a stop sign in the 2000 block of Doran Drive, where Doran Drive intersects with Nabors Lane.
The 17-year-old reported he was not injured, Ramirez said. The 17-year-old was a resident in the 2300 block of Nabors Lane, Ramirez said.
The resident, identified by Ramirez as the one shot, at declined to comment on what happened that evening or give his name.
Ramirez said officers had gathered so many conflicting details and stories that he did not know exactly how many suspects he was looking for or what kind of vehicle he was looking for. Police said Wednesday morning that only information about the suspects was they were three Hispanic males in their early 20s.
Ramirez also said officers had not found any damaged property.
The call initially came out on the scanner as two shots fired in the area of Patton Drive and Nabors Lane.
Officers had blocked off the 1900 to 2000 block of Doran Drive for around an hour Tuesday night. When first responding to the shooting, police communication indicated they had gone to a report of a fight a few hours earlier in the same area, but details of this weren’t available Tuesday evening.
Neighbors were roaming the area of Glenwood Avenue, Doran Drive and Nabors Lane for around 30 minutes. Officers left the scene close to 9:45 p.m.
