Professor publishes book
University of Texas of the Permian Basin professor Rhina Toruno-Haensly has a new book out this spring, “A Viva Vos” published by Linus Publications.
The book is an anthology looking at 13 different Latin American authors. It includes an interview with each author and an essay on a particular work by each author.
Notable writers are featured in the anthology including Salvadoran authors Manlio Argueta and Mario Bencastro, and Mexican authors Elena Garro and Elena Poniatowska among others.
Toruno is a Katherine Cosper Dunagan Professor in the Humanities at UTPB and teaches 20th century Latin American Literature, specializing in works from Mexico and Central America. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Central and South America and has written books on several figures in Latin America.
