On Sunday, he'll be running the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon at the White Sands Missile Range military area.
He'll be competing in the civilian light category, which means he won't be carrying a 35-pound backpack like many of the military teams will.
The Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon is part of a weekend time of remembrance of the World War II forced march of American prisoners by the Japanese at the Philippines. Survivors of the march and prisoner of war camps will be there to give their stories and encourage the participants in the desert challenge.
Johnson's encouraging people to donate to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund for his run.
