Power outage

An 18-wheeler that took down power lines Tuesday afternoon in southern Odessa might have caused a power outage.

Cpl. Jon Foust said power was out at the intersections of Eighth Street and Crescent Drive as well as 14th Street and Grandview Avenue.

Foust said the cause of the power outage might have been an 18-wheeler that took out power lines at the intersection of Laredo Drive and Dixie Boulevard, but he wasn't for sure.

A police officer was directing traffic on Eighth Street and Crescent Drive at 10 p.m.

Also, an anonymous man called the Odessa American and said many residents along Eighth Street and Crescent went without power. The man said he was told he wouldn't have power until 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Efforts to reach Oncor Electric Delivery late Tuesday were not successful by press time.
