Power outages
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Residents of northeast Odessa lost power early Tuesday morning after an equipment failure knocked out a transformer in the Glen Haven substation area near Highway 80.
Oncor area manager Sue Mercer said slightly more than 6,000 residents were in the dark at its peak around 9 a.m. A squirrel apparently initiated a series of equipment failures that ended in the outage for the region. Clearwire broadband and the Commemorative Air Force are two companies that lost power.
"We just waited it out and tried to get some paperwork done. With no computers, it was a bit difficult," said Autumn Esparza, CAF director of membership marketing and public relations.
At 10 a.m., two-thirds of those without power had already had power restored. Mercer said power was restored to all customers just before 10:30 a.m.
