The following is a list of felony criminal activities reported to the police. Numbered addresses of locations where crimes occur are rounded to the nearest hundred block.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

  • A 41-year-old Odessa man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence) after, police said, he swung a wooden board at another family member at 9:19 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of South Washington Avenue. David Garcia, 1208 S. Washington Ave., was being held Wednesday at the Ector County Detention Center on bonds totaling $50,000 and several misdemeanor citations. Police said that just prior to swinging the board, he had assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face and another family member by pulling on her arm, leading to two misdemeanor assault charges and officers found him a few blocks away from the crime scene intoxicated so he was arrested for public intoxication.  

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

  • An Odessa man reported someone stabbed him causing wounds to his abdomen and leg between 1:30 a.m. and 1:48 a.m. Wednesday in the 3700 block of East 30th Street. He was transported by Rescue Squad No. 6 to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition. He was no longer listed as a patient Wednesday afternoon.

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION

  • An Austin woman reported someone entered her residence, doing $250 of damage to a sliding glass door, and took two 1900s antique mahogany chairs worth a total of $1,000 and one Ethan Allen chest worth $300 between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of Redbud Drive.
  • An Odessa man reported someone entered his hotel room and took $1,100 cash between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday at Studio 6, 3031 East Highway 80.

EVADING ARREST

  • A 17-year-old Odessa man was arrested and charged with felony evading arrest (using a vehicle) at 9:12 p.m. Monday in the 3700 block of Andrews Highway after, police said, he tried to evade an officer attempting a traffic stop. Rickey Lee Redman Jr., 2107 Shakespeare Road, was released Tuesday from the Ector County Detention Center “without a bond being set,” according to jail records.

FORGERY

  • An Odessa man reported someone signed and passed his checks at Lowe’s Home Improvement, 1107 East 42nd Street.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

  • A 21-year-old Odessa woman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamines) after police executed a search warrant at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 20 on 2828 E. 11th St., No. 106. Monica Miller was released Jan. 21 from the Ector County Detention Center after posting a $15,000 bond.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A VEHICLE

  • A 30-year-old Odessa man and 21-year-old Odessa woman were arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle at 10:12 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Adams Avenue after, police said, an Odessa woman reported someone took her 2012 Kia Forte without her consent sometime Monday from 100 block of Adams Avenue and an Odessa man reported his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado worth $15,000 was taken without his consent from Motel 6, 200 E. Interstate 20. Fred Tercero Jaquez III, 1000 Fall Ave., was released Tuesday from the Ector County Detention Center on bonds totaling $50,000. Briana Jessy Archuleta, 275 S. Washington Ave., was released from the jail Tuesday on $15,000 bond. Police said Jaquez was found to be the driver of the Silverado at the time with Archuleta as his passenger. Jaquez is accused of taking his grandmother's vehicle a 2012 Kia Forte, and being found in possession of less than a gram of cocaine. Archuleta is accused of taking the Silverado. The relationship between the two and two reported vehicle thefts was unclear, however.
