Burglars foiled

Neighbor's call leads to charges

Three men were arrested Tuesday evening after police found them with fake license plates and tools that police suspected were intended for use in burglaries, Odessa Police Cpl. Sherrie Carruth and incident records said.

What got them caught was a watchful resident who grew suspicious of them as they were hanging around the Moose Lodge parking lot, Carruth said.

Officers checked on the men at approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor called about them as they were hanging out at 2700 N. Dixie Blvd. Carruth said the police determined their car's license plates were fake, and when the police searched the car they found several burglary tools.

Those three men, 17-year-old Tyler Jones, 18-year-old Camyn Hairell and 22-year-old Logan Strother, are now all behind bars. They were charged with tampering with government records and unlawful use of a criminal instrument, both felonies. All three were being held at the Ector County Detention Center on bonds totaling $75,000 each.
